ABOUT THE COURSES...

SDI OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVER COURSE

Who this course is for:

  • Persons desiring to obtain a Scuba Diving certification
  • Persons interested in underwater exploration

Course prerequisites

  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent

What you can expect to learn:

The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course will cover all of the necessary skills and knowledge for open water scuba diving, including:

  • The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, heat loss, tides, currents, waves, surge, etc.
  • Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air, mixed gases, etc.
  • Dive equipment selection, assembly, use and maintenance
  • Dive planning
  • Basic scuba skills including mask and regulator skills, swimming underwater, buoyancy control, basic rescue techniques, and emergency procedures
  • And much more!

What’s in it for you:

Upon successful completion of the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course, graduates may:

  • Conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training
  • Continue their dive education by enrolling in SDI Advanced Diver and Specialty courses

SDI Open Water Scuba Diver minimum requirements:

  • Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
  • Satisfactorily complete the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver knowledge quests or equivalent online learning course
  • Complete all open water requirements safely and efficiently

SDI COMPUTER NITROX COURSE

Nitrox is a breathing gas that has a lot of benefits for both new and experienced divers. This course will cover the use of nitrox mixtures from 22 to 40 percent oxygen.

Who this course is for:

  • The certified diver looking to advance their knowledge and skill set
  • The certified diver looking to extend their no decompression time limits

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18, 10 with parental consent
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent, or current enrollment in one of those courses

What you can expect to learn:

  • Physiology of using different breathing gas mixtures and equipment considerations for using nitrox
  • How to safely use nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent with a dive computer
  • Advantages and disadvantages of utilizing nitrox mixtures, how to analyze a nitrox mixture

  • Extended no-decompression times

SDI Computer Nitrox minimum requirements:

  • 100 percent comprehension of questions and answers at the end of each chapter in the SDI Computer Nitrox Diving Course
  • Analyze at least two nitrox cylinders
  • Log at least one nitrox cylinder
  • Program a nitrox computer to a mix between 22-40 percent oxygen

All Scuba equipment is included except mask/snorkel, fins/booties.

Once the certification process starts, you have 1 year to complete the program.

There are no refunds, instead, we offer make-up classes/dives. 

Tentative Course Schedule:

Friday - Begin 3:00pm - 8:30pm - Confined water skills in pool. Includes Seafood Boil post instruction

Saturday - Begin 9:00 am, confined-water skills and/or open-water dives in open water or pool – tidal/weather dependent

Sunday - Begin 9:00 am, complete all open-water to complete certification, tidal/weather dependent

 **Our goal is to have you certified by day 3, however, there are no guarantees as we are dealing with mother nature and human conditions. Illness or the inability to perform the necessary skills may delay certification. If we cannot for any reason complete the certification during the 3-day timeframe, we will continue the certification process to a later date.**

Does not include personal mask, snorkel, booties, fins. We can assist you in getting the right, personal fit if needed.

Does not include extra dive fees, if applicable.

There are no refunds, instead we makeup class/diving depending on conditions. 

Confined-water will be conducted in a pool, quarry, lake or bay.

Open-water will be conducted in a quarry, lake or bay. 

Dates subject to change due to weather or class size.
